Apple announced the second-generation AirPods, which will include a wireless charging case and a new H1 chip that the company claims offers improved battery life with 50 Percent More Talk Time and “Hey, Siri” support to trigger the virtual assistant without pressing a button.
The new Apple-designed H1 chip features custom audio architecture to create a revolutionary audio experience and improved synchronisation. H1 allows AirPods to deliver up to 50 percent more talk time compared to first generation AirPods. Switching between devices while listening to music on iPhone, Apple Watch or iPad is more seamless than ever with two times faster connect times.
For the first time, AirPods now feature the convenience of “Hey Siri” making it easier to change songs, make a call, adjust the volume or get directions simply by saying, “Hey Siri.”
Price and Availability
Apple says the new AirPods will be priced at Rs 14,900 if you buy these with the standard charging case and Rs 18,900 if you buy these with the new wireless charging case. The new AirPods will be available in stores in India “later this spring”, though exact details aren’t available just yet. If you already own the AirPods, you could even buy yourself an upgrade to the wireless charging case, which is priced at Rs 7,500.
