Oppo Electronics Corporation, commonly referred to as Oppo, is a Chinese consumer electronics and mobile communication company, known for its smartphones, Blu-ray players and other electronic devices. A leading manufacturer of smartphones, Oppo was the top smartphone brand in China in 2016 and was ranked No. 4 worldwide.
Oppo launched the company’s first global smartphone Oppo Find X on June 19, 2018 8:45pm CEST (12:15am IST the next day) at The Louvre Museum in Paris. Oppo Find X stands out for two things: its bezel-less screen and slide-out cameras. The Oppo Find X appears to be futuristic and that’s what the Chinese company will be highlighting in its marketing campaigns when the phone hit the market in the coming days.
- 156.7 x 74.2 x 9.4mm
- 186 grams
- Cameras slide out at the top
Oppo’s Find X is almost all-screen on the front. In fact, the 6.4-inch display takes up 93.8 per cent of the front surface of the phone. And there’s no notch, which also means a little creativity was required to build in the front facing camera. Oppo has taken a wildly different approach. Rather than have a single small camera that pops up out of the frame, the Find X has a pop-up that spans the entire width of the phone and doesn’t just feature the front facing camera.
Keeping up with the modern design trends, the glass finish is very eye-catching. It uses a multi-layer process and both the Glacier Blue and Bordeaux Red (actually more like pink or purple) models adapt and change under different lighting conditions, with the color on the outside bleeding into the dark glass in the middle. The Oppo Find X is a premium smartphone which has a lot of strong features. Under the hood a great configuration ensures a powerful performance while running multiple tasks. The cameras are excellent and performs well in terms of photography and videography. A massive storage is present to fulfill your needs. Though the battery backup is average, the presence of the quick-charging makes up for it. Overall, if you are looking for a quality smartphone in this price range, go for the Oppo Find X.
Oppo Find X price in India is expected to be Rs. 59,990. Oppo Find X Expected to be launched on Jul 12, 2018.
If a big part of your job was to cover all these boring new smartphones day in and day out, something like the newly announced Oppo Find X might excite you too. In fact, it’s a cool new concept that will probably excite any gadget fan who sees it. One popular clickbait YouTube channel we won’t bother linking even went as far as to call it “the smartphone that changes everything.” But in reality, it changes absolutely nothing. Concept is the key word here — the Oppo Find X is a neat idea that should have stayed an idea. It never should have been made, and there are a few obvious reasons why.
We do have concerns about the longevity of this mechanism though. It seems that having more moving parts in a phone could mean more chance of something going wrong, although Oppo claims it has tested this mechanism and it should live through up to 300,000 actuations. Even if it does last, it’s surely going to be something of a dust magnet, and users will need to be careful not to get their phone wet, because having this open/shut mechanism also means the phone isn’t sealed against water ingress.

- Powerful performance
- Excellent cameras
- Ginormous storage
- 6.42-inch OLED
- 2340 x 1080
The Oppo Find X bears a 6.3-inch AMOLED full HD+ display which carries an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. It has a pixel density of 409 PPI which is a result of a whopping screen resolution of 1,080 x 2,340 pixels. A fingerprint sensor is present to enhance the security as well as the convenience of the system. A Corning Gorilla Glass is present just above the screen that helps to protect the device from unwanted scratches.
As for the actual screen, that’s a 6.42-inch panel with a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. As well as being big and immersive, it’s built on an OLED panel which means vivid colours and lots of contrast. We’ve only spent a short amount of time with it, but it was certainly attractive on first looks.
OPPO has always pursued perfection. With no holes visible on the screen and the unified design, OPPO Find X offers exceptional smooth handling and exudes pure beauty. Any time or place, the OPPO Find X will be the center of attention.
OPPO Find X is the world’s first panoramic designed phone, embracing the beauty of nature into a leading technology product. OPPO Find X combines two seamless pieces of glass with the front screen featuring a gorgeous panoramic view.
Omoji and 3D Face Recognition:
- 3D and IR sensors
- Secure facial recognition
- Animated emoji
This phone promises to have facial recognition capabilities that rivals Apple’s own FaceID. OPPO Find X is the first Android smartphone to feature 3D Structured Light Technology. Using 15,000 facial dot recognition and intelligent analysis, 3D Face Recognition is 20 times safer than fingerprint recognition for unlocking the phone.
When the mechanism slides up, it’s not just revealing a front facing camera. There’s a collection of various depth and IR sensors which – combined – can scan and create a complete 3D model of a user’s face. It can recognise and scan 15000 different data points that include depth as well as visual data, making it secure enough to authenticate payments and purchases as well as unlocking the phone.
Oppo’s Omoji are exactly what you think they’d be from the name. It’s essentially Animoji, in Oppo flavour. You can create your own custom 3D emoji character, or use a preset animal or character and animate them using facial expressions just like Apple and Samsung’s emoji creations.
- Snapdragon 845 processor
- 8GB RAM + 256GB storage
- 3750mAh battery
- VOOC flash charging
The Oppo Find X gets its required power from a 3,645mAh Li-Po battery which does not provide enough amount of backup. Moreover, it supports quick-charging so that you can refill the battery at lightning fast speed. In terms of storage, a non-expandable 128GB inbuilt storage is present to fulfill your needs.
Battery: Capacity3, 730mAh
The company has gone with the current flagship chip of choice, the Snapdragon 845, and then paired it with a generous 8GB of RAM. That should, in theory, mean a stupendously fast phone. Presuming the software doesn’t get in the way.
Oppo makes use of its VOOC fast charging technology which – in years past – has been identical in power and speeds to OnePlus’ Dash Charge. In short, it’ll be one of the fastest charging phones around.
- Dual 16MP + 20MP sensor
- AI scene detection
The stealth 3D cameras are not just hidden but contain a number of innovative technologies: 3D Face Recognition system, front camera, rear dual camera and many intricate sensors. The state of the art stealth 3D cameras will redefine smartphone photography.
The Oppo Find X is armed with a dual primary camera setup with 16MP and 2MP lens. The camera setup is able to record 4k videos at a speed of 30 fps speed. Moreover, it can also capture images of 4,616 x 3,464 pixels resolution. For selfie lovers, a 25MP front camera is present that can click mesmerizing selfies as well as helps to facilitate video calls.
The dual 16-megapixel and 20-megapixel cameras are both optically stabilised, and both have f/2.0 apertures. When you shoot though, the AI kicks in and starts recognising objects and scenes within the photo and then adapts settings to enhance the picture. It’s very similar in theory to what we’ve seen from the Huawei P20, Honor 10 and the LG G7 ThinQ.
- China launch first
- France, Italy, Spain and Netherlands to follow
- Late summer timeframe
- €999 price tag
In a move that’s almost as big an announcement as the actual hardware, Oppo has announced that it’s bringing its phones to Europe officially for the first time. Once the initial Chinese launch kicks off at the end of this summer, Oppo will be selling the Find X in France, Italy, Spain and the Netherlands.
Oppo is distancing itself from its middle-of-the-road phones with the Find X, and will be selling the 256GB model for an eye-watering €999 in Europe.
