Apple CEO Tim Cook and his senior staff will make this a software-focused keynote, according to new Apple rumors, with iOS 12 confirmed, and macOS 10.14 a given at this point. At WWDC 2018, Apple’s software has a lot to answer for, including the many annoying iOS 11 problems.
WWDC 2018 start time was 10:30 IST in McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California.
Apple proceeded with a quick look at iOS 12 and its features at WWDC 2018. iOS 12 was due to a fascinating home screen redesign and pull apps like Mail, Camera and Photos, but that’s been placed in favor of stability and performance improvements, looking to make the iPhone faster and more responsive than it’s previously been.
The keyboards on the iPhone 6S will go 50% faster than the previous, the camera will snap 70% faster. This shows that Apple isn’t giving up on older devices.
App loading in general is now twice as fast with iOS 12.
⦁ ARKit 2
Apple also teamed up with Pixar to develop a new file format for sharing AR content with the help of which Augmented reality and Apple’s ARKit development platform was also showcased. With iOS 12, Apple brings developers ARKit 2 with enhanced capabilities like 3D object detection, persistent experiences, and shared AR spaces. Some features are:

⦁ Grouped Notifications
To remove the mess in the notifications, iOS 12 will supprot for the Grouped Notifications so that you will be able to interact with or dismiss multiple notifications from the same app at once. Grouped Notifications are like Stack which helps us to know how many are waiting for you. Also apps are allowed to send notifications that vibrate the phone. “Quiet” notifications will show up in Notification Center, but not on your lock screen. They also won’t make any interruptions in any way.
⦁ Do Not Disturb
iOS 12 will now include a “Do Not Disturb at Bedtime” feature. This creates a clean and empty notification screen to help users more easily wind down at night. The new Do Not Disturb during Bedtime mode is meant to help you get some rest by dimming the display and hiding all notifications on the lock screen until you wake the next day. You can set it to automatically end based on a time or location.
The Photos app has got a new enhanced search option. A ‘For You’ tab suggests on what you can possibly do with the photos you have saved. Photos will also now make sharing suggestions. Friends who receive photos are prompted to share back their own pics and video from the same event.
⦁ Group Video Calling
FaceTime would let you do the group calling by making use of a moving tile display of faces currently in the chat, floating and coming into greater prominence when someone begins to talk. An always-on display for the iPhone X would be a great way to show off the OLED screen technology. Apple will offer the ability to change cameras settings directly in the camera app instead of having to dig through one phone settings menu after another.
iOS will automatically inform you when you will be running out of the alloted time that you have given to the app. A “time’s up” message will be displayed as the time runs out. A “Manage Screen Time” butto helps to manage the time to work on a particular app.
⦁ Animoji and Memoji
iOS includes an animated emoji feature known as Animoji. This responds to facial expressions via camera, to animate various 3D animated emojis that can be sent as a video file with sound. Animoji will be able to detect when you’re sticking out your tongue and mimic that. The roster of Animoji characters is expanding again with a ghost, koala, tiger, and tyrannosaurus rex.
You will be able to create characters that have your own appearance, choosing skin color, hairstyle, and outfitting your Memoji with accessories. In other words, Apple Memoji lets you create an Animoji of yourself.
A new feature, called “Shortcuts”, combines with the apps to follow the ordered voice commands. a Tile Bluetooth tracker let’s you create a voice command and activates the Tile app locator feature. An example of “I lost my keys” was given in the conference. You can train the voice assistant to trigger a series of commands with custom commands while you can also identify it with an “Add to Siri” option within apps. Siri will also make suggestions from the lock screen. It lets you know what’s near, and will also help you to inform colleague when it comes into sight that you’re getting late for a meeting, or reminds you to put your phone on silent when it sees you in a cinema.
Apple’s new MacOS release has been revealed with many exciting new features. The new macOS is called Mojave and it comes with a host of changes.
⦁ First up was a new ‘Dark Mode’, which makes all Apple first party apps take on a darker aspect. It will be useful for photo editors and developers, easy on the eyes for late night use with the former often preferring incisive colors against a darker background.
⦁ Apple is introducing Desktop stacks, which group together related icons into piles, auto-tidying your desktop, expanding with a tap which would help desktop remain upstanding.
⦁ The desktop wallpaper can be set to change over the course of a day too like new Apple-designed options of, say, a desert panorama, will change from morning through to noon, evening and the dead of night as time in your local location changes. The Gallery View will now give quick actions that you can immediately get the information.
⦁ The new operating system for Mac also has an Active Desktop feature that modifies the screen brightness and display as per the time of day.
The update to Apple’s wearable devices has come with new features such as Activity Sharing competitions, advanced running features, auto-workout detection. Apple watchOS 5 now comes with Apple Podcasts as well.
watchOS 5 will be available this fall for Apple Watch Series 1 and later and requires iPhone 5s or later on iOS 12. Apple also announced a new Pride Edition of Apple Watch. The Pride Edition Woven Nylon band will be available in India at a starting price of Rs 3,900.
Apple Tv 4k, TvOS 12
The new Apple TV supports 4K content. The tech giant previewed tvOS 12 for its Apple TV lineup. With TvOS 12, Apple is introducing a new Zero Sign-on feature that gives users access to their account by detecting the broadband network and automatically signing them on to the premium apps.
TvOS 12 also supports for AutoFill passwords saved on iOS 12.
